Connie; Griff has a good idea, My soil is not much
different than yours but I do have access to river
bottom loam. Nonetheless For several years I convinced
local tree trimmers to dump their chips in a pile on
my property. It becomes wonderful humus after about
two years. Probably if one incorporated some nitrogen
and mixed some soil with it it would go faster. It
reduces down to about a fifth its volume so it takes a
bit to get a lot. Beware If you make the pile too big
it can catch on fire in the center.
