Betty, we got a lot of information from (...memory is not giving me her name at the moment and she's not on this computer...) in Oz who was compiling data from members of their rebloom group re: pH effects on rebloom. But at the time, I didn't look at it thinking in terms of hunting for cultivars that were everbloomers independent of pH.
Robin, was she going to write an article for the Recorder? <Articles I've read do indicate that lime or the lack of lime can be thedetermining factor in the survival of irises in our area. Other areas too. I've not read any studies that give a definitive report on it's ability to specifically turn rebloom on or off. >
Mike, I've not tried to grow AUTUMN TRYST. Some of yours that have done well elsewhere haven't held up to the disease and freeze burden here. I definitely want to try RETURN TO BAYBERRY now that you've told us it can tolerate a pretty stiff freeze!
Am finally getting enough strong & relatively fertile but non-reblooming descendants from IMM & a few others things (VIOL MIRACLE, HOM, TEA LEAVES) that that I'm ready to at least start <thinking> about mixing in some "summer dry" everbloomers.
Now that I think I've figured out how to keep them healthy enough to produce pollen for at least the first year. Having pretty good success by planting them in pots and bringing them indoors to avoid the worst weather.
I sure hope nobody looks at pedigrees of my seedlings any time in the future and assumes the parents would actually live in the ground here! <g>
[believe it or not, I've actually come close to working on the rebloom checklist again lately...]
