HYB: re?bloom

Another maiden bloomstalk - ENGLISH COTTAGE X SHARPSHOOTER. Bud looks like a dark neglecta. "Typical" summer bunched up stalk, lots of buds tho.

This cross produced mostly weak seedlings, but one or two very strong ones. I haven't tried a lot of crosses with ENGLISH COTTAGE, but think it is worth playing with. I think there's potential for even better health from it than from IMM, & if "summer" rebloom is recessive, then it must have at least two doses of summer rebloom genes. But it will take some good guesses to match it up with something to avoid those median genes....

Any of the rest of you made crosses with ENGLISH COTTAGE?

Very curious to see what these summer maiden bloomers will do in future. The only other summer blooming seedlings here have gone on to rebloom sporadically, but they did not have maiden bloom at such an odd time of year!

Nearly 3 inches of rain from ~Thurs thru Sunday, very litte rain for a month before that. Current temps - lows in mid- upper 60s, highs near 90. F.
