Hi Betty,

Short and bunched, or not, that's exciting progress! ... especially in a seriously neglected bed.

Unfortunately, my MTB breeding will be rather limited."

Thanks for sharing in my excitement. If I'm remembering right (I'll have to check the archives to be sure), the batch of seedlings that included 'Cricket Song' and 'Easy Smile' had its maiden bloom in 2005. I dug them shortly afterwards and moved them to our new house. None rebloomed that year. Then to my surprise, I found four seedlings with Fall stalks the following year. I dug each rebloomer and replanted right then. Three of these have had Spring and Fall stalks for two more years now - making it three consecutive reblooms for these. One has a very messy flower form. The other two have been registered as 'Cricket Song' and 'Easy Smile'. The fourth seedling hasn't rebloomed any since that first year. All of the rebloomers have expanded into roughly basketball sized clumps and really ought to be divided. I have to be careful about promising too much to too many people but I'm thinking that we could remedy your rather limited MTB breeding. By the way,
what made you get rid of most of your MTB's.

And this is just a glimmer of future potential, but I did get a few seeds from some interploid crossings this season. And one of these was using 'Easy Smile'. I didn't know about this summer bloom potential or I'd have probably focused more on these using these two seedlings in those mixed ploidy experiments.

Take care, Tom
