I accidentally left EC off the list of my rebloom breeders. Haven't done as much with it as I now wish I had.
Looking forward to (IMM x Fog) X EC seedlings. Not the best branched pod from the IMMFOG kids, but it did produce 32 seeds! A bumper crop this year.
The two surviving EC X Fog kids have excellent form, substance, and, near as I can tell, very good branching. Low bud count. Not tall enough here to suit me, but ok. Better than Fog here.
The only other EC X modern cross several years ago had few surviving seedlings, dead now, I think, tho one maiden bloomed in Aug. super messy hafts.
Only ones that did really well are an old cross from EC X PINK FORMAL ;-) Now exiled to the back yard to compete in peace with weeds, shade, tree roots, heavy layer of chip mulch. Hope to pick one to try to work with some more.
I've avoided using EC because it's plic (my prejudice that I'm <trying> to abandon), has the worst substance of any rebloomer that does well here, is so early in spring that it's frozen out most years, doesn't summer bloom (at least not here & haven't heard reports it summer blooms elsewhere) and has that 'banjo' shape to the falls that I dislike so much. But it does pass on very nice size to the blooms, something that IMM does <not> do. Can't think of a single seedling from EC that had small blooms - opposite of IMM. Challenge to get good size in my growing conditions from IMM or her kids first generation.
You've grown a lot of seedlings from EC. I remember it as near white with good growth. Are you getting encouraging seedlings from it? Near the quality of 'Immortality?' Both form and rebloom?
