All correct.

I'm not altering the eRegister site except indirectly by contacting Hybridizers to make corrections as necessary.

Mine is for the purpose of sorting the irises to find what you want on various parameters in ways that the eregister cannot. To be more efficient there is no point in including ones that one cannot obtained in any fashion. Those will be on a separate list that can be searched separately. If one is still avalaiable and in a private collection I'm more than happy to put it in the "avaialble list" rather than relegate it as obsolete.

Some examples, let's say for example you are searching for a cultivar that has yellow Standards, blue Falls and PBF. Any one of thaose characteristics is will only give you a partial list and then you will still have to sift through that list which can be up to hundreds of cultivars long. Not to mention PBF isn't a Registered characteristic for quite a majority. Mine will allow you to sort on each character and more easily zero in a cultivar. This could also be really helpful in identifying Historics.

If a cultivar is in commerce I cannot absolutely determine on such a scale for each and every cultivar . That would require some input from others once the list is out there. However, if one that you can positively identify is not on the list (i.e. on the wrong list) then it can be moved between lists. Also, mine will notate weather a Historic cultivar has decendants or not, fertility and ploidy level including cultivars that were registered as seedling numbers in parentages and later Introduced. There are quite a few that never appear in parentages under their Registered name, just seedling number. That would amount to 250 so far that I've found. The most notable is 'Pike's Peak Pink'. It is referred to any number of ways as Loomis SQ72, SQ72, and SQ 72... each of which will pull up different cultivars when a search is performed. If you do a search for 'Pike's Peak Pink' you will get nothing other that the Registered cultivar itself. My database will correct that, !
but the official Registry will remain the same.

It will be separate from the eRegister and the Twiki as a database. If AIS wants to include it on either site that is up to them. It will be FREE (yes, no charge) to be used and periodically updated with new Registrations and input from others.

All in all, yes it's a personal endeavour, but I hope it will become a tool everybody can use and alter as needed.
