Iris vs. the Wildlife

The most effective critter control we've ever had was a Great Pyrenees.   She
herded the pigeons.  And the rabbits.  Trained them to eat the tender weeds &
leave the iris alone.  Protected them from stray cats.  Somehow, I think she
could have handled deer.
