Hi T,C--

I have iris gardens on dry land and I have a huge natural pond about
150' across that I started to plant about a year or two ago. the
pseudacorus do fabulously in the water. they've spread but not
alarmingly and were loaded with blooms this season. I also put in
siberians CAESAR'S BROTHER and CHILLED WINE and they thrive in the water
as well as on the banks where it is dry and in the bog garden on the
shore and do well there as well. Naturally I've planted water lilies,
pickeral rush and arrowhead and am eagerly awaiting bloom (this is their
first year). japenese irises are planted in the bog garden because I
was warned that they do not like to have ice around them in winter (I am
in zone 4) and I put some Louisianas in the pond and in the bog garden
but won't know how any of these do until next year.

I can recommend a book I have found valuable--THE NATURAL WATER GARDEN,
published by the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, 1000 Washington Ave, Brooklyn,
NY 11255 and also a book they publish called WATER GARDENING. these
are filled with useful info.

I have loked at your website, have lots of questions for you and will
ask them through your web-site so as not to distract the iris-l with all
of my pond concerns.

Stick with the list. I knew nothing when I started on it early this
year but have learned a great deal.
