Sheryl:
Lady bugs are especially fond of aphids. Check with your local nursery
and see if they can get them for you. One pint or so of lady bugs and
your aphid problem should disappear "naturally." The lady bugs stay
around as long as there is food, i.e. aphids, and then move on to return
if more food shows up. They're also kinda cute . . . as bugs go.
