John,
I live in Santa Fe. In our part of the world, little that we grow would
or could grow naturally. All of the things I do to grow my vegetables
and flowers could be considered "unnatural." The soils here are so
difficult that double digging is one of the only ways we have to break
up the hard clay pan base and introduce both sand and organic matter.
I've created a number of gardens here in town and feel that the land is
better for our presence, albeit unnatural.
