When we received the guest irises for the '94 convention here in
Portland, most of the spurias were sent in plastic baggies. We were
instructed to place them in the veggie crisper for a week to 10 days
before we planted them, so we did. We didn't lose a one, and those of
you who visited out garden during the convention know just how well they
performed. This is something we had never heard of before, and do not do
with any other type of iris. We haven't done it since, but we are
contemplating moving some of the spurias, so I may just repeat the
procedure this time, since it was so successful in '94. Any comments
from those of you more in the know regarding spurias? By the way, is
this another one of those irises with many different name
pronunciations? I hear spooria, spearia, and spurria. Can anyone
enlighten me, please?

to see the effects of our labours.
