garden report

Hi Everyone--

1. Everything is brown from the drought.

2. the deer have eaten the JI blooms, the Asiastic lily blooms, and the
daylily buds so that I still don't know the real colors of the new ones
I planted. and the hostas in full bloom are being chomped to the
ground.

3. there are holes in the dirt throughout my bog garden (what's the
difference between a vole and a mole?).

4. My pond has dropped about 4' and the waterlilies do NOT look good.
CHARLENE STRAWN supposedly a nice bright yellow is blooming very pale.
SIOUX doesn't bloom at all.

5. Hemerocallis fulva, planted near the pond and in full bloom
everywhere else, have just started to bud. More fodder for deer?????

How discouraging. Only the annuals are doing well -- thank goodness for
their cheerful colors in the midst of destruction.
