Hello from Oz
On a recent visit to a bonsai nursery just over the river in Buronga, New
South Wales, I was given a pot of Libertia ixoides "Tukakui Mikoi Koi" The
seed was collected from near the buried city , Rotorua, New Zealand. In
Volume 2 late perennials by Roger Phillips and Martyn Rix, I found that
Libertia formosa is native to Chile whilst L.ixiodes is native to N.Z. The
ixoides blooms are white but the nurseryman says that this particular one
has blooms of an orange shade.
It is very easily germinated as he had dozens in pots and in his cottage
garden area where they should bloom this Spring.
Dianne, another Victorian, in Red Cliffs near Mildura on the Murray river.
