It never crossed my mind, and I hope no one else's, that [iris-talk] was ever
meant to be a competing list. Anyone who thinks that has not been paying
attention.
I can not begin to imagine the headache of the returned mail, filters or not.
Both Tom and John should be nominated for sainthood fro dealing with
that. I am glad that is not a part of our current setup.
[iris-talk] does have a "different" tone than iris-l. I think this is due to who
is
subscribed and posting rather than the advertising. The advertising is no better
or worse than the uncut "superfluous reply text". I simply read till the ad
line appears, then delete. I would like to see a few of the unconverted
members of iris-l subscribe, simply because I liked reading their posts and
seeing what they had to say.
The archiving arrangement with RT66 is great, and hats off to John and
whoever else helped to work that deal.
Many people, myself included, are initially resistant to change. Some take
longer
than others to adjust to new environments. I feel that [iris-talk] is fine,
until
we are given sufficient reason to move on to another option. For any out there
who feel that [iris-talk] is not doing its' job, where were you when John was
doing the
manual list, or checking other options?
Tom has given us his answer on restarting iris-l. John has taken action and
filled the
void nicely. Let us give both of them the support they have both earned, embrace
the
change, and let the lamenting over the old list end.
This is my opinion, I could be wrong :)..............back into dig-season
lurking!
