John is correct. Please check for the ingredients before using any alfalfa
products.
I went to my local feed mill last weekend and purchased a few 50# sacks of
alfalfa meal. This is 100% alfalfa which is ground into a fine meal. Easiest
to use. Either apply as a side dressing or make "alfalfa tea". My
understanding of the tea is you
use a five gallon bucket of water, add 2 pounds of alfalfa meal, let sit for a
spell, then give it a stir and apply to the soil. I am also working a mixture
of alfalfa meal and superphosphate into my new beds. I heard you want to do
this about 3 weeks prior to planting them but I couldn't swear by it. My beds
will be nice and ready when the iris shipments start rolling in.
Good luck,
