Cover them with lenghts of panty hose cut about 4-5" long and fastened above
and below the pod with twist ties. This also helps discourage insects that
often eat on the pods. Let the pods begin to split at the top before
harvesting. If you happen to miss one and it splits, the panty hose cover
will catch the seed. I'm assuming you're talking of bearded iris here.
