I use panty hose on my LAI crosses to protect them from (what I think is)
verbenia bud moth. It's the only way I can get undamaged pods. I put the hose
on as soon as the flower wilts. Since I only do a few crosses each season it's
not a bother to remove the hose to check the pod. I also use different colored
twist ties to mark the crosses rather than using tags.
