Seed Pods

From: Glenn Simmons <glsimmon@swbell.net>

To all who responded on my request for info on seed pods, thank you.

I went out to the garden this morning to check on the pods and low and
behold I found one with two short narrow splits in it. This pod has now
been cut off and placed in a labeled paper bag so it can continue to
dry. This pod was my first cross, the date on the label is 5-10-98. I
did pull the largest split apart a little so I could see inside and
there are seeds in it. I did 8 crosses between these two irises to make
sure I got a good cross and this is the only one that took. So, I am
pleased. This cross is between a red seedling (TB), we got from an old
iris hybridizer/grower in this area, and Lady Friend. I'll keep you all
informed as to how this turns out.
