Thanks for the advice on this, Andrew. It's good to hear from someone with a
similar climate. I'm going to use alfalfa with a bit of restraint. I did
notice when I was at the convention how huge some of the rhizomes were. I
asked the gardeners what they were using and most said a fall feeding of
alfalfa and triple superphosphate. I was sure impressed with the growth.
Here in Wisconsin we have constant freeze/thaw so perhaps bumping the rzs up
to gargantuan size this fall would not be wise. Thank goodness for getting
some opinions on iris-talk to keep me from doing something I would regret.
P.S. the plants I received from you this spring are doing just great. I'm
very satisfied. I even had bloom on some of them. I'll be contacting
Foxbrook for sure again next spring for more.
