I have wondered myself if perhaps tetraploidy in Siberians confers a wider
range of environmental adaptation based on observations in my own garden.
In my pH 7.0 soil a few of the diploid SIBs show slight, but definite
signs, of chlorosis, whereas all of the tetraploids exhibit healthy, dark
geen foliage. The numbers are small, however, particularly of Tetraploid
SIBs, so I cannot claim that these observations are definitive.
