AR: 3/4-breds

From: Sharon McAllister <73372.1745@compuserve.com>

The 3/4-bred category includes far more different types than either the
1/4-bred or 1/2-bred. The classic, predominantly onco triploids do benefit
from being lifted during dormancy in hot, humid climates -- but others,
like Danielson's LAVENDER LEMON, don't go dormant even in the heat of
southern NM.

To complicate matters further, the current code for 3/4-breds is OGB+.
Before 1990, however, that same code simply meant more than 1/2 aril by
quantum computation -- and included many that would be classified as
1/2-breds if introduced today.

So the simplest solution is to experiment. Grow different types, to find
out which you prefer and which are best adapted to your climate.

Or if you have questions about a specific cultivar, just ask. Privately or
through the list.
