I noticed on Randy Penn's list of '98 convention irises for sale that
PROVENCAL (Cayeux - no year given so it is probably not introduced ?) -
was a stunning 'red' iris that looked good and sometimes great in all
the gardens I observed it. My notes say it was 'faded' in Long's Gardens
in Boulder..that was the last day of touring and my notes got pretty
cryptic. :) It did supurb in the snow and cold during the convention and
was standing upright in all gardens exhibiting my most sought after
trait in TBs...wind resistance.
Anyway, it was one of my favorite guest irises at the convention and I
ordered it from Randy along with five others....thereby negating my 'no
more TBs' pledge. Those plus some from Walter Moores will be in my new
garden.
Cheers,
Ellen
p.s. I also ordered one of Lowell Baumunk's TBs - AMBER ELEGANCE :)
