Alfalfa (or Lucerne as we call it here, but the stuff we eat we call
alfalfa - seperates us from the livestock) is a very fast growing crop.
The first cut contains whatever weeds are growing in it. They wouldn't
use this for pellets. The second and subsequent cuts are unlikely to
contain anything much other than alfalfa. I use lucerne hay UNDER my
vegetable beds. (no dig method of gardening) and have never had a weed
problem.
