Celia,
There was a thread last year that touched on this topic. Pricing is
based on supply and demand. In that particular case (I don't recall who
it was), demand exceeded supply so they dropped the price. Demand
immediately dropped.
I commented on the perverseness of iris lovers. Normally when the
supply can meet the demand, the price will drop. Timing will depend on
quickly the variety increases.
It is one method that I use to judge whether or not to buy an iris. If
the price remains high for more than two or three years, it usually
means that it is a slow grower. If the price drops quickly, it usually
means that it is popular and grows well.
