When a seedling with all the attributes of a modern iris gives
maiden bloom, that is a rare plant! Propagation, cultivation, and
distribution destroy the rare status. Obviously so . . . . .
The $50 price tag on the I.laevagata may keep it rare in
customer's gardens but in abundance in the seller's.
