Peak bloom season is right now in western Montana. With a hot wind
yesterday it did damage a few of my babies but not badly enough that I had
to cut the damaged ones out.
Theater, Cherry Smoke, Needlepoint and Desert Echo are something to behold
this year. My new bed has a few single stocks with blooms but next year
should be a real show. Cynthia Ann is just about ready to bloom. I had
hoped that my babies would hold off just a few days as my 86 year old mother
is coming from Anchorage on Tuesday and she so wanted to see the iris in
peak bloom. She raised them when I was a youngster thus my love for them.
Tomorrow we should be off to Missoula where I'll meet Carryl and view the
iris in that special iris garden at Old Fort Missoula. I'm so looking
forward to it that I'm even breaking out my Leica and a batch of film for
the occasion.
