Each year lists (called the Registrations and Introductions) of the new
names and descriptions, and thus new irises, is published by AIS
(American Iris Society), and then every ten years a ten year compilation
called a Check List is published. AIS has been registering and
publishing the names of hybrid irises since the twenties.

The Electronic Services Committee of the AIS is currently engaged in a
project to bring all these publications online at:
http://www.irisregister.com.
Currently we have the 1989 checklist (for the years 1980-1989) online as
well as a complete list of every iris name ever registered along with
its introduction year (but not the descriptions). By the end of this
year we hope to have have the 1999, 1979, and 1969 Checklists as well.
