Parvenu a le list! Of course this whole business of growing and hybridizing
iris began in Europe and some of the best hybridizers are there. I don't
know what restrictions, if any, there may be in mailing plant material
across national borders in the EEC, but I strongly recommend Richard Cayeux
in France, who not only has a full catalog of his own wonderful
introductions (I have a full bed of them) but also catalogs many of the
great American irises.
He has a web site. If you cannot find it by a search, write me back and I'll
look it up for you.
There is also Countess Van Zeppelin in Germany, which is more of a
full-service nursery than a specialty in iris, and many others, both on the
continent and in the UK.
If you find any with a good selection of Goos & Koenemann varieties (a
German firm that went out of business in 1938), please let me know.
