An iris fan will bloom only once, but the rhizome will produce
additional fans. When the rhizome only has a single fan, and
it blooms without the rhizome growing any offsets (or fans)
the rhizome is said to have bloomed out.
In essence, bloomout means the rhizome blooms and dies without
producing any vegetative increase for future bloom.
