This probably adds to the "do what works for you" theory...my Best Bet is
supposedly a notorious bloomout suspect and yet my clump bloomed fine this
year with enough increases to survive. I've noted before I think it's in
some dappled shade through the day and maybe that helps. Or my sandy soil
which certainly doesn't allow for "over fertilization" to say the least...
I will say that I found a new formula of Miracle Grow that's supposed tobe
for establishing seedlings with numbers like 4-12-10 (or close to that) has
low enough nitrogen to be ok for foliar feeding of my iris. Ain't cheap,
tho'.
