Propagating Species seeds

Hi:
I saw that the species iris group still has seeds left in the last
newsletter. Question: When is the best time to start these seeds?
I've never tried growing iris from seed but want some of the species and
can't afford to buy all plants. Would like to either be pointed to a
good website with specific information, or given some information on
this list. Can someone suggest about 5-10 that would be most likely to
give me success in blooming in a year or two? Then, I'll have to
remember where to send the order in!
