HYB:Strange Stuff

Talkers,

Well, you see, there's this seedling! It has color, stalk, good growth,
terrific bud count and placement, but the form needs a little work. This
spring was maiden bloom and first thing I put some pollen on it, with no
results. As I was cleaning up the bed, I was thrilled to find a deformed bee
pod on this clump. One or more chambers didn't develop, probably a broken
style crest. I'd lost a year but the seedling is pod fertile and probably
pollen fertile too.

Today, I noticed that curved little half a pod had turned white and was
getting soft so I pulled it off. Imagine my surprise when I turned it over
and saw exposed seed! The nine seed it contained had out grown their space
and the seam on the pod ripped open exposing the seed. The exposed part was
greenish white, like the pod, and the covered part had started turning a more
mature brown. Half of two chambers had mature seed. They look fine.

I've never had a pod rip open during development and still produce normal
looking seed. What is the chance I've got viable seed?
