Re: OT CHAT etc was ADMIN: Welcome Message

I have to say I agree with Bill...I know I'm very new to the list; but I'm not exactly sure what all the hype is about...I thought this group was about people who loved iris'- every thing about them.... smell, color, design, sharing, inquiring.......am I mistaken?
Relax and enjoy....:-) I was....

I belong to a list in which the default option is to reply to the
individual. Most people on the list have a hard time realizing this
(including me) because it is not the usual way of going. As a result,
responses intended for the list go only to the sender of the first post and
generally no one is the wiser unless the responder picks up that his/her
message did not come back on the list. A great deal of confusion results.
The list I'm talking about was changed because one or two "tetchy" members
thought there was too much inappropriate private traffic. On iris-talk,
messages that should have been directed to an individual are very rare,
maybe one in a hundred. This is something to get ticked off about?

If one belongs to a list, one supposes that the purpose is to communicate
with the members of list. If you want to send private messages, you can do
so without being on a list.

Please keep iris-talk just as it is.
