Spuria seedlings

Hi!

I'm just getting into hybridizing and I've attempted my first spuria 
cross this year.  How do I tell when they are ready?  They are so 
different than anything I'm use to seeing that I don't know how to 
tell if they are ready.  

Any advice you can give in this matter would be great!
