CONDITIONINIG AND CUTTING IRIS

Can anyone give me some pointers on cutting (when, how many buds, etc.) and
conditioning (warm water overnight, cold water overnight? added sugar, etc.)
for the major types of iris: bearded, sib, jap, spu, la. I am finishing up
a small book on the world of iris and am short on this info. Was advised to
cut iris when one bud was open. Have no advice on conditioning overnight or
whatever. I would be most grateful and I am a member of the AIS. Theodore
