HYB: wierd pods? - anticipation

This is the first time I've had a lot of pods. Do they vary in size and
shape among cultivars for the rest of you? Have any of you noticed a
relationship between pod shape & size and the production of seeds?
I've seen air or balloon pods before & think I can recognize them.
These all seem to have something inside.
All of LIGHTNING RIDGE pods are long and skinny - unlike pods on
anything else. HARVEST OF MEMORIES has pods of all shapes and sizes -
smallest are less than an inch & sort of round, biggest is close to a 4
inch long blimp.
One small pod on ART DECO started to rot on one side, then recovered,
and seeds are developing in the open air on that side of the pod.
Murphy has not been here this year....
