Thank you for that concise, very interesting description!
I didn't know that each rhizome only blooms once, but now I
know what to look for in July when I begin to divide.
I would say that we are at peak bloom here in SE WI - we've
had lots of rain, but little wind and the blooms are
gorgeous. Talk about an Iris which exceeded expectations -
my vote would be TB Joyce Terry this year. My clump is only
2 years old and the flowers are amazingly intense and LARGE!
I thought I didn't have enough yellow anything blooming this
time of year and sort of haphazardly picked it for it's
color. It's truly lovely and prodigious.
My second vote would be for another TB Barry's Choice - I
can't seem to find a photo of it anywhere - it's a sort of
mustardy yellowish brown but has a wash of iridescent pale
pink/blue/purple, almost like a signal spot. It's heavily
pearl dusted too. It was a bonus, so I didn't know what I'd
get. I'm really glad I got it!
