  Welcome, fellow Kentuckian!  BTW, it helps if you sign your name, location and zone (probably Zone 6 for you) to each post.  Different parts of the country obviously have different growing conditions and folks can advise you better if they know where you are.  

  You are 25 miles from Elizabethtown, I see.  In which direction?  Louisville is within a 45 minute drive of E-town, so we are neighbors!  We have a great iris society here and would love to have you visit.  If you will email me privately, I will give you all the info.

    Ack, I hate bios.

    I found out irises came in more than five varieties about three years 
    ago. The next year I found the AIS webpage and links, but then I got 
    married and moved. Currently I'm about twenty-five miles from 
    Elizabethtown, Ky.
    Last year I ordered a Dykes Medal Collection from one of the big 
    houses.  This year only about half of them bloomed, but I played with 
    the ones that bloomed and now I have five seed pods and uh, I guess 
    PBD whatsit.  Lol. And all of that from two paragraphs in the catalog 
    I ordered from.  Now I'm lost.

    I'm pretty much only interested in TB, but some LA get my attention.
    So far I'm just having fun.

    I have a question, how can I bother the 600 members with stupid 
    questions if only thirty of them actively post?

    For the record some of y'all are nuts!
