Janet,
For fun and maybe a pleasant surprise you might try planting with 1/2 to 3/4
shade rather than ditch the plant next time. This can make 5 to 10 degrees
difference in the overall temperature experience of the plant. And may, just
may, light up a shady spot.
Never short on advice or experiments, just brains and money.
