Walter,

I've never heard of either a bill dookie or a sharpshooter.  What are 
they?  I have certainly used my fair share of pitchforks to move hay, and 
the blacksmith is quite right that they would be useless as a soil 
digging tool.  However, we are not discussing pitchforks in this thread.  
We are discussing garden "digging forks" such as the ones available at

These forks have thick, strong tines that are far easier to sink into my 
clay soil than any spade.  I couldn't dig irises without my digging fork!
