Hi Char:
Loved your story about the tree spud. It reminded me of my Grandpa who
farmed in St. Charles, Mo. when I was about 10-11 years old and had to help
hoe sweet potatoes. How I wished that damn hoe would break!! But he'd watch me
hit rocks in anger (I wanted to be out riding the horse - not hoeing those
*&%$ sweet potatoes) and he hand me a newly sharpened hoe. . and when that one
dulled, he'd have the first one sharpened. . .I finally learned to just hoe,
get it done and THEN I'd get to go riding! Taught me an excellent lesson that
stays with me today. . .get your work done first, do it right, and then have
fun! Along the same vein, foods you don't like don't taste any better when
they've laid on your plate until they are the last thing left. Lesson learned:
eat the disliked food, get it gone then enjoy the good stuff!!!
