Yes, the leaf spot and rot occurred when I used alfalfa in the spring
as a top dressing.
I still might incorporate the pellets into a bed or place some in a
planting hole but never on top of the soil.
This year I topdressed with terraclor granules, and I have the
prettiest foliage I have ever had. Even with nearly thirty inches of
rainfall so far this spring, I have very little leaf spot. I do have a few
scattered yellow leaves here and there and I have some rot on
newer things in virgin soil.
This bloom season was one of the best yet. The bearded had
finished before all of the rains started.
