John, bee pods containing seeds are pretty rare here, so I doubt that is
a factor in repeat cross differences.  But you never know for sure....

I get a number of bee pods (depending on the cultivar).  I have seen
field-grown iris loaded with bee pods.  I have never had an empty pod,
although I have had a few instances where I thought a pod was taking, then it
shriveled and fell off (all within a couple of weeks of the attempted cross).
I have only twice had pods with fewer than 14 seeds, and those were tiny,
misshapen pods.

sorry, my last few strands of remaining Louisa's Song pollen don't look likely
to be viable (turning yellowish and either gooey or hardened).  Too bad, Cloud
