Re: Many Iris Problems

"Bordo" is a phonetic rendition of Bordeaux, one use of which is as the name
of a sulfur-based fungicide. Bordeaux Mixture is a blend of lime, water and
copper sulfate and has been used as a spray on trees and ornamentals for both
insects and fungi for many centuries. It is normally applied in early spring
as application in hot weather tends to burn foliage quite strongly. One
advantage is that, at least for lime-tolerant plants, it is ecologically safe.
The copper concentrations are so small that toxic buildup in the environment
is extremely unlikely if normal care in mixing is used.
