CULT: HYB: rain!

A bit uncomfortable talking about joy of rainfall with all the flooding in Texas/Oklahoma, but it <finally> rained here a little. 3/4 inch in the guage this afternoon.

Not much of a dent in the ~13 inch deficit, but very welcome for the moment!

All of Tennessee was declared a disaster area after the spring freeze; now about to all be declared a disaster area again because of the drought. No hay, no pasture, no water supply for livestock. Worst winter/spring drought here in over 100 yrs.

Store-bought irises in general look pretty bad now - starting to see scorched foliage. Most seedlings are happy. This year will definitely accelerate the shift towards growing mostly my own seedlings.

Sure picked a good year to put out a thick layer of chip mulch!! :-)
