Paul -- You don't leave much option but to cross it with tetraploids, and then you can choose between rebloomers or not. Do you have a photo to ost? -- Griff

I was watering transplants around the garden today and suddenly noticed a flower just opened on a brand new stalk of a years old diploid cross seedling. Howerever this one is unusual in that it came from the side of the fan at one of the old leaves. The main fan has not bloomed and is still active. What's more this cross wasn't bred for rebloom or even remotely expected to have any potential. Although one of it's sibs did just finish it's last bud on a stalk that rebloomed. The cross was Dogrose x Taj Majal. So the questions flow. Is this a fluke and should I just ignore its potential? Has anyone seen this before? How would I best put this to use in breeding?I need ideas... other than the obvious of crossing it to the other few reblooming diploids, selfing it, and sibing crossing it with the other rebloom sib.I can't believe that it is holding up in this heat and drought either let alone sending up a stalk with 5 firm buds.Paul Archer Raleigh, NC Zone 8 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE IRIS
