Historic iris

Sally Guye asks:

 >> What makes an iris historic? Is it like furniture 100 years old?

The Historic Iris Preservation Society, a section of the AIS, defines historic
iris as any introduced 30 years ago or more. Oddly, it can sometimes be harder
to find specific irises of the late fifties and early sixties than the truly
old cultivars.
