Hi Everyone--
I went to my first iris show yesterday at the Albany Crossgates Mall and
learned a great deal I didn't know before. First, it isn't a flower
show. Second, there are irises I never saw before. third, there are
colors I never saw before and didn't know were possible. fourth, I got
to see some irises you have discussed on the list that I was only able
to guess at (how do you describe the variation of CAYENNE CAPERS?). And
fifth, judges realy work carefully and hard. Queen of the show was a
white TB called GUDRUN. What a beauty.
I got to meet a few people I recognize from the list, especially Dorothy
Fingerhood who has been so helpful to me over the months I've been on
the list.
It was worth the long trip, also to discover that there actually are
people in NYS who have blooming irises. Gives one hope.
