There are various degrees of bog gardening and many (most) of the irises
that one would consider growing in a bog would be happy in low areas in
the garden, where so many people slave to amend the soil and create
raised beds to prevent rot. Natural bogs go through seasonal changes and
some actually dry out, without causing damage to the bog plants that
grow there. So, if you want to to grow bog plants, first survey your
property and see if you happen to have one of those areas that you can
use rather than assuming that you have to create a whole new
environment, which can be costly and/or time consuming. If not, then the
next stop should be Toys R Us.
