Is it truly better to do it now going into the hot summer, or to wait
until later in very early fall, since frost and cold are not problems
here?  Most planting of perennials halts in the summer, unless said
perennials are watered vigorously, and that's not the recommendation for
bearded iris.

Mine (the one) is still green but the tip top is dried and shriveled and
brown a bit.
